About the Book

“In 1968 at the height of the Vietnam War, I entered the Air Force after graduating from college. The military was a great fit for me and I soon found myself on the fast track. In 1980, I was sent to the Pentagon in Washington D.C.   I was a young, fast-moving, Lieutenant Colonel married to my career working 12 hour days and spending most Saturdays at the Pentagon. One dark, early Washington, D.C. morning as I drove to work, I heard Harry Chapin’s “Cats in the Cradle” on the car radio and realized that my career had become more important to me than my family. I made a commitment to myself that I would value my family more than my career and make decisions that benefited them more than myself. “Cats in the Cradle” was a turning point that put my life back into balance.”

“When ya’ comin’ home Dad?

I don’t know when but we’ll get together then, son

Ya’ know we’ll have a good time then”

That’s one of my life’s experiences that was impacted by music, now what’s yours?
